Strawberry Chia Jam: a quick and healthy jam recipe with only 4 ingredients and three steps!
Sub in other berries as you wish. Blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, mixed berries, and even cherries would all be delicious in this recipe.Feel free to adjust the sweetener according to the sweetness of the berries and your taste preferences.
16oz.frozen strawberries; or 2 pints fresh strawberrieshulled and cut in half
1 ½tablespoonsliquid sweetener: maple syrupagave, or honey (optional)
2teaspoonslemon juice
2tablespoonschia seeds
Instructions
Bring the strawberries, liquid sweetener (if using), lemon juice, and chia seeds to a simmer in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 10-13 minutes, stirring consistently and mashing as desired with a spatula or a fork, or until strawberries are broken down and the jam thickens.
Remove the pan from the heat and cool the jam until at room temperature or your desired serving temperature.
Notes
1. Leftovers last covered in the fridge for 7-10 days or frozen in a freezer-safe container for 1-2 months.2. Speed up the cooling process by chilling warm (not hot) jam in the refrigerator. 3. To make this recipe with fresh fruit or strawberries: follow the directions as listed, summering the fruit for only 8-10 minutes, or until the fruit has thickened down and the jam has thickened.
