Homemade Croutons in the Air Fryer are crunchy, savory, and full of cheesy garlic flavor. Best of all, they are made with common ingredients in less than 15 minutes! Sprinkle them onto salads, garnish your favorite soup, and more!
Add the cubed bread to a medium-sized mixing bowl. Drizzle the bread with half the olive oil and season with half of the salt, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning blend, and parmesan cheese (if using). Toss well.
Drizzle the bread with the remaining oil and sprinkle the remaining seasonings, tossing well again until the bread is evenly coated.
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F for 2-3 minutes with the basket or air fryer tray inside.
Add the bread cubes to the air fryer basket or tray. Don’t worry if they overlap or are a few layers deep in the basket.
Air fry for 6-8 minutes until golden and crunchy, gently shaking or stirring the bread cubes halfway through. Watch them carefully while cooking to prevent overcooking or burning.
Notes
Preheat the air fryer. With the tray or basket installed, heat the air fryer for 2-3 minutes to ensure quick and even crouton cooking. Note: Some air fryer models don't require preheating, so check your manufacturer's directions if desired before making this recipe.
Toss or stir the croutons throughout the cooking time. If they are more than a layer thick in the basket, toss them in the air fryer basket or stir them on the tray halfway through the cooking time. This ensures that the croutons crisp up evenly.
Storage Directions: Leftover croutons should be kept covered in an airtight container at room temperature for one week. They should retain their crunchiness when stored, but they can be re-crisped in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes at 350°F if needed.
